Probably not, but dark chocolate containing 70% cocoa or above, is rich in flavanoids and being rich in flavanoids means it is loaded with antioxidants and being loaded with antioxidants means it helps fight free radical damage to the skin which means slowing down aging and wrinkles.
The flavanoids in dark chocolate – known as epicatechins and catechins are proven to protect the skin from the damaging ultraviolet rays of the sun. They also boost the elasticity of our skin by improving blood flow to the skin’s proteins which results in more supple skin.
Of course, as with everything, moderation is the key. Dark chocolate should be limited to an ounce a day which is equivalent to one small piece of a bar of dark chocolate. It’s important to remember – too much of any good thing is too much. It IS chocolate and it IS sugar, so it DOES have calories – 170 to be exact – so eat in moderation.

Dark Chocolate combined with cherries – or Dark Chocolate Dipped Cherries can have double the pleasure and double the antioxidants! Cherries contain two flavonoids, isoqueritin and queritrin, that may also help reduce some signs of aging. In addition, cherries are also a great source of melanin which helps improve sleep. Better sleep means better skin, less puffy eyes, and overall better mental health, so dark chocolate cherries are even better than eating dark chocolate by itself. Again, moderation is the key. Dark chocolate cherries should be limited to having just a few each day.
