Pregnant Kourtney Kardashian Did WHAT??? AMMONIA – ARE YOU AT RISK TOO?
Ammonia is one of the most Dangerous Ingredients and Worst Offenders found in all Beauty Products and Most Hair Color contains Ammonia!

FACT: Girls as young as 5 years old use hair color products containing ammonia!
Most hair colors contain ammonia because ammonia busts through the hair cuticle and allows the product to deposit color through the cuticle. The result is – great hair color, but damage to the hair cuticle, which ultimately degrades the hair’s structural integrity. And this damage is minor compared to what some researchers say about the damage ammonia can cause to our health! Keep reading…
The result over time from using hair color with ammonia is dry, brittle, unhealthy-looking hair. But even WORSE is the possible negative health effects that you can be exposed to during the application and processing of ammoniated hair color.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, effects of ammonia can include irritation to the:
- Nose
- Throat
- Respiratory System
- Eyes
- Skin
Kourtney Kardashian defended her decision a few years ago to have her hair colored while pregnant, a very controversial topic. As a precaution, Kourtney made sure her stylist did not take the color all the way to the root, and she chose highlights, which experts claim is a safer form of color to use when pregnant. Many moms are firmly against the practice of coloring their hair when pregnant, while other moms feel that it does not need to be on the forbidden list for pregnant women.
In this world of Organic “Everything” that we live in today, there are many hair color products on the market that don’t contain ammonia and are considered a safer choice, such as Redken’s Chromatics line, Matrix and CHI Ionic to name a few. Whether any of the products without ammonia are strong enough to consistently and evenly cover gray hair is not yet widely known – of course they all claim they do.
Research has proven that we are exposed to over 700,000 toxins or chemicals per day, therefore, some believe using an ammonia-free hair color product is a wise choice. If you color your hair, consult with your hairstylist so he/she can help you decide for yourself what is best for you!
